What We Do

SRH - FP, ADH, SGBV

We partner with communities to ensure all girls and young women access quality family planning, sexual and reproductive health information, and services; to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV); and to promote holistic adolescent health (ADH) from puberty through young adulthood.

Objectives:

We drive impact by training and mentoring Village Health Teams (VHTs), teachers, and peer educators to deliver accurate information and quality services; convening community dialogues and radio forums to dispel myths and foster supportive social norms; and establishing youth-friendly service points with confidential referral pathways to ensure that every young person can access care safely and with dignity.

Self-Care & Nutrition

At TEGEM, we champion self-care as a vital pillar for improving health and well-being. We believe that when individuals and communities are equipped with the right knowledge and tools, they can take charge of their health, prevent disease, and manage conditions, both with and without direct healthcare support. With multi sectoral engagement, TEGEM works with the Ministry of Health to contribute towards realisation of Universal Health Coverage.

We work closely with cultural leaders to promote self-care practices and enhance health literacy. Their influence helps embed healthy habits within communities, making self-care accessible, relatable, and sustainable., thus efforts towards decongesting the health facilities.

Education excellence

At TEGEM, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead. Through targeted school outreaches and community partnerships, we work to close learning gaps, foster digital fluency, and promote inclusive, student-centered teaching ensuring girls stay in school and reach their full academic potential.

Objectives:

We collaborate with district education offices to deliver gender-sensitive, learner-centered teacher trainings; provide schools with tablets, solar-powered classrooms, and replenishable libraries; and engage parents, local leaders, and school management committees in mentorship and advocacy thus, creating a supportive ecosystem that keeps girls in school and on track to succeed.

Economic empowerment

We equip adolescent girls and young women with market-relevant skills, financial literacy, and access to micro-finance so they can generate sustainable livelihoods and contribute to household resilience.

Objectives:

We drive impact by partnering with local private‐sector champions and micro‐finance institutions to secure internship placements and accessible small‐business loans for our participants. Through gender‐responsive business coaching and peer‐learning forums, we ensure that each young woman develops the technical and leadership skills needed to manage and grow her enterprise. Finally, we rigorously track changes in participants’ incomes and business survival rates, using these insights to continually refine our training curricula and support services for maximum sustainability.
